Sightseeing in Jalandhar

Jalandhar brings a series of visiting places encompassing a perfect blend of historical, religious and scientific interests for tourists worldwide. Came into existence some eight hundred years ago, the city of Jalandhar reflects the sheer flavor of heritage mixed with contemporary. As a result, there is no dearth of sightseeing in the city. Sightseeing in Jalandhar Imam Nasir Masjid or mausoleum- This is an 800 year old mausoleum of Imam Nasir and is well acclaimed for its aesthetic design. The mausoleum is located in the heart of Jalandhar.

Tulsi Mandir- It is an ancient monument in the City is the temple of Vrinda, wife of demon Jalandhara.It is located in the Kot Kishan Chand area of Jalandhar and is well known as Tulsi Mandir. The aesthetic enigma of the temple and its surrounding has been intensified by the tank on one side of the temple, which is revered as the bathing place of the demon Jalandhara. Not too far, is the temple of Gupha, with the image of Annapurna, the goddess of plenty, in it. Also nearby lies the Brahm Kund and some temples dedicated to Shiva.

Sheetla Mandir: The Sheetala Mandir is located near the Balmiki gate. According to the common belief, it is as old as the City of Jalandhar. Within its premises are located two small and age old temples of Hanuman and Shiva. On the occasion when devotees offer their worship to lord Shiva, a big fair is held here in month of August.

Shiv Mandir -It is situated at Gur Mandi, where the Shiv Mandir is reputed and revered to have been built by a Nawab of Sultanpur Lodhi near Masjid Imam Nasir.

Shaheed –E-azam- Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum- It is a well-known museum at Khatkal Kalan, the native village of the great freedom fighter and Martyr Sardar Bhagat Singh. It was inaugurated on his 50th death anniversary. It was earlier in Jalandhar district, now became part of Nawanshahr district. A lot of memorable belongings of those martyrs are displayed here. The asset of the museum includes half burnt ashes of Sardar Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev including the blood soaked sand and blood stained newspaper in which their ashes were wrapped are preserved and exhibited in the museum. In addition to this, one page of the Lahore Conspiracy Case’s Judgment, according to which martyr Kartar Singh Sarabha was sentenced to death and on which Sardar Bhagat Singh put some notes is also exhibited in the museum. A copy of the holy Gita having Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s signatures, which was handed over to him in Lahore Jail, and his other personal belongings are displayed here. Apart from this, paintings of the revolutionaries and Gadrites are stored and displayed in the museum. A big bronze statue dedicated in the memory of the great martyr installed in front of the museum in order to commemorate the martyr’s great deeds.
