Tourist Places in Jalandhar

Devi Talab- Located at the centre of Jalandhar City, this is a sacred and age old area, which has recently been renovated . Presently, a new temple has been built on it in order to intensify the magnificent isolation as the Talab portrays. Recently a model of Amarnath Yatra has been built in the premises. An old temple of goddess Kali still exists carrying its characteristic significance by the side of the Devi Talab.

Tourist Places in Jalandhar Tulsi Mandir – It is the christened name of the temple of Vrinda, wife of Jalandhara, in the Kot Kishan Chand locality. Apart from its natural magnificence, Tulsi Mandir is known for the big tank on one side, which is believed as the bathing place of the demon Jalandhara.

Not too far is located the temple of Gupha, with the image of Annapurna, the goddess of plenty, installed in it. The Brahm Kund and some temples dedicated to Shiva are also worth visiting. At the spectacular Balmiki gate, you can see the Sheetla Mandir, believed to be as old as the City of Jalandhar. Within the same premises, you can also locate small old temples of Hanuman and Shiva.

Gurdwara Chhevin Padshahi – This area is associated with the visit of Guru Hargobind in the city of Jalandhar. Gurdwara Chhevin Padshahi is located in the Basti Shaikh, Jalandhar city, where once, Guruji granted interview to a Muslim holy saint, popularly known as Shaikh Darvesh.

Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum, Khatkar Kalan – It is a well-known museum at Khatkal Kalan, the native village of the great Martyr Sardar Bhagat Singh. Commemorating the memory of this great martyr, this was inaugurated on his 50th death anniversary. All the personal belongings of the great martryr and his associates are displayed here.

The Gurudwara at Kartarpur is also an important visual attraction here.

St Mary’s Cathedral Church( Jalandhar Cantt)

This is an age- old church dedicated to St. Patrick, which gives a reflection of the Vicariate Apostolic of Agra, of the independence era. In recent years, this church is the Cathedral or the Mother Church of Punjab. The present church here is the renovated construction after the older one was demolished on 15th February, 1987. The church itself is an imposing building, which is mainly responsible for its tourist’s attraction.

Apart from these, a few other places are worth visiting in Jalandhar, which are namely Sanyas Ashram (popularly known as Bahrian-da-Talab) on the Kapurthala road. Nathan-Di Bagichi, Darbar Muhammad Jamal Zahra (in Basti Sheikh), Baba Jhandianala (in Basti Nau), shrines of Baba Lakki Shah Pir and Dargah Pir Hazi Shah Qutab situated in the Jalandhar Cantonment.
